Identify the document before the number
Start at the issuing department’s source. Match the scheme, draw number and date with the ticket. A matching heading is the first check; matching the last few digits is not a complete check.
Five checks for a result document

If the PDF or photo is unclear
Do not guess an unreadable digit. Reopen the original file and enlarge it. Copied text can lose a series, a column or a leading zero. If the original remains unclear, leave the check unresolved rather than treating a partial match as confirmation.
